The GOP is hitting the panic button. Boehner this morning telling the Senate to "Get off its ass", even as he's refused to discuss the Senate's plan. GOP governors are starting to sweat since most of them control the Republican "taker" states that consume more federal spending than they contribute in taxes:
Federal taxation and spending by state - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Bottom line: The GOP has been screeching for cuts for years, and now they'll get them. However, it will be on Obama's terms. They've bought a knife to a gunfight.

Many Republicans here on C-D are cheering for the sequester to happen. I don't think they have a clue what the backlash is going to be for the GOP if it does. It's definitely a case of being careful what you wish for.

They don't care about backlash. In this specific instance, they care about doing the right thing which is curbing a federal government that's out of control with spending.

The GOP is getting what they've asked for, but it will blow up in their faces. The GOP leadership knows what's about to happen, even as the Tea Party celebrates their "victory". What's amazing is they still haven't learned anything from the election nor the budget battles in December.

This would be the same people who were convinced Romney would win in a landslide.

The cuts go through, a few people get laid off, and the deficit gets smaller. How much do you want to bet that if the negative effects of the sequester are minimal, that Obama will take credit for slashing the deficit and cutting spending.

And yes I did.
