Reminds me of 1984, War is Peace. Either these people know nothing about these two men or are in complete denial.

MLK was a registered Republican. How conservative he would have been . . . ??? But, the parties were very different back then. As for Gandhi - there is a lot of myth to him that isn't the reality, but repainting him as gun-toting? That is a stretch.

In the 1960's Southern Democrats were the conservatives. MLK wanted radical progress , how in the world is that conservative?

Radical progress in social issues certainly isn't very conservative. If he was conservative about anything, it probably would have been due to his religious views. There are some insights into some of his beliefs, but not too many (outside of social justice). He was definitely pro-life, but - as far as I know - that was his only truely conservative view. I have no idea how he felt on homosexuality.

The Council of Conservative Citizens didn't view the Civil Rights movement as progress, and they certainly were not fans of MLK.

Do you want radical changes to American institutions and traditions? If so, you are probably the only conservative that holds this view.

It is a shame that even historical figures can't be multidimensional. Some people just want them to fit in their little preconceived boxes.

And other revisionists omit the fact that MLK was a plagiarist.

Ghandi said "Among the many misdeeds of the British rule in India, history will look upon the act depriving a whole nation of arms as the blackest."

Do you dispute this?
