I've always been neutral on the gun issue. I have to say, though that when I see the numbers reflecting gun violence in my country (USA) it gives me a knee jerk reaction: We have too many guns! But then I read about Switzerland and other countries where much, if not most, of the citizenry have guns. They don't have the problems with it that we do. Where I grew up in the country, everyone had guns but there wasn't any gun violence. So, I conclude, it is not the guns but the culture at fault.

Let's work on the culture before we start arguing about the guns. Just my two cents and I'm nobody special or smart. Just a cowboy (without a gun, btw) who is looking at things a bit different these days.

Violence - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The term gun violence just sounds wrong. No gun jumps up and kills people without help. So I looked up violence and found information I find a little strange. I don't think proverty has anything to do with violence either. It is just an excuse.

I think you are right about culture.

The people who commit "gun violence" are, criminals. Let's enforce the laws we have now. Mandatory sentences for gun crimes. Stop the nonsense about punishing law abiding citizens.

Thanks for the support of my thoughts. It just seems gun ownership does not coincide with gun violence. We need to stress responsible gun ownership and get (back to) a culture where we take care of our own. Sure, you'll still have criminals and such, but if we paid a bit more attention and let less young people slip through the cracks, this world would be a lot better off.

Nobody cares about two homies shooting each other, that's what they want to ban guns and not the culture. I dunno they will probably call me racist for stating the obvious.

If they actually gave a crap about society they would try fix that problem but that's too much effort.

Easier to pretend you give a crap and ban guns. When the problem continues they'll either ignore it or ban knives cause we all know that worked in the UK.

I care about two "homies" shooting each other. Especially if it's happening near me! You really think people don't care about that? That's just terrible.

The media doesn't and that is what gets the populous in an up roar. It is just like the media doesn't pay attention when a minority child is missing but it is a national news story when a white girl is missing.

If they gave a damn they would try fix the problem. They dont give a crap so they want to ban guns. Anybody with a brain knows a gun ban wont stop homies killing each other. Rich folks are in Congress and The White House so why would they care about what happens in the hood where a majority of gun crime happens. A ban on guns is laughable.

The media laps up the BS and the sheeple lap that up.

There is no way in a million years a gun ban will stop 95% of the crime.
