I guess the fact that he didn't use a teleprompter explains why he repeated himself over and over and over again, it was the most boring thing I have ever listened to and I onlly heard about 3 hours of the debacle before falling asleep.

He stood for something he believed in instead of just getting his check, doing the bare minimum, and leaving. We need more men like Rand Paul in our congress.

If you spoke about a single topic for 13 hours, pretty sure you would have repeated yourself too.
I do not understand this yapping about the use of a teleprompter. When the President of the United States speaks, the world listens to every word and the phrasing. It is, generally, not a time to 'wing it'. When the teleprompters came into being (I guess in the 1950s) the presidents were quick to see the value of them. Prepare your remarks before hand, and stick to the script.
Presidents have often got into trouble when speaking 'off the cuff', like at press conferences. i guess every president I can remember got into trouble for making some statement that had to be 'clarified' afterwards ("what the president really meant...). Again, the world is listening and every word the president says carries weight.
Filibusters do not require teleprompters. The object of a filibuster is to hold the floor for as long as possible, putting off some vote. Only a pure idiot would think that any Senator would ask for a teleprompter for a filibuster.

Every (or just about) man can be well spoken with a teleprompter. It takes a true well spoken man to be well spoken without one. I agree that the above issues (filibuster/speaking without a teleprompter) aren't related and since I didn't listen, I don't know how well spoken Mr. Paul was, but what he did showed pure dedication and I admire that in a man.
