Last summer, she went on a gleeful tirade about purchasing 6 bathing suits (for her granddaughters) for $28! I called her out and stated "thank god for Chinese made products, huh?" She then said "They are from China, but I bought them at Macy's!"

Leftie hypocrisy at its finest.
Which is why you look for clothing stores that still make clothes in America. And there are quite a bit of them.

What do we manufacture that they would sell?

keep this in mind:
The Buy American Act requires that a product be manufactured in the U.S. of more than 50 percent U.S. parts to be considered Made in USA for government procurement purposes. He did what EVERYBODY is doing and does today. If you don't like China having most favored nation trade status, send Al Gore a nasty letter.

The West has been buying goods from China since Marco Polo went back to Venice (1299 if I remember 8th grade history correctly).

And in 2013 people wanna act like this is some kinda of cultural shift? Or there is something wrong with buying goods from China? lols.

Contrary to popular belief there is no such thing as an "American Job." They do not exist. The fact that jobs go overseas proves that. And I never here Americans ***** when a Japanese or German company sets up shop in the U.S. lols.

If some Chinese company can produce the same quality at the same price they will gain a large market share. If some American company can produce the same quality at the same price they will gain a large market share. If more American manufacturers were making the same quality for the same price as Chinese firms then Wal Mart would sell more American goods.

They are not under any obligation, legal or moral, to buy from U.S. companies. And it doesn't make them "unpatriotic." That term is thrown around so much it is meaningless. Much like "racism."

And if Americans stopped buying goods from China then millions of Chinese would starve to death. Is that want the anti-Wal Mart people want? Starving kids in China?

So China ships goods to the US with next to zero prices, and middle class Americans are not happy?

I thought only rich ones should not be happy because everyone can afford useful things now.

American's buy what is available based on cost / vs quality.
Policy makers determine what becomes available in the country via lobbyists.

Me and most other American's I know in the past did not buy based on where a product comes from but what the cost/quality is. I don't see many flipping over a product to see where it is from.

As China rises, so does its influence on the Hill

Quote:
The new openness toward China is often subtle and not shared by all. But an undeniable evolution is taking place, congressional staffers and analysts said, as members of Congress, many with increasing numbers of large and small businesses in their districts that depend on trade with China, are now far more likely to kill or water down measures opposed by Beijing.

A number of companies have spent a total of US$2.45 billion on services provided by US lobbying companies since the beginning of this year; the spending of telecom companies, Chinese firms among them, on lobbying has reached US$40 million, reports the 21st Century Business Review, a monthly magazine printed in Guangzhou.

China has launched an intense lobbying effort in Washington to kill legislation that would punish it for its currency system, in the latest display of its more sophisticated approach to influence U.S. policy.

Communist China Lobbying to Take Over U.S. Oil, Lawmakers Still Concerned

Quote:
Top American lawmakers on both sides of the aisle are expressing serious concerns about a bid by the communist dictatorship ruling mainland China to purchase Canadian energy firm Nexen and its vast U.S. oil and natural gas holdings. The deal by the Chinese regime, acting through its state-owned front company China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC), also represents a potential national security risk, warned Republican and Democrat members of Congress.

Indeed, Two Sides of the Same Coin.

Our Globalists overlords are playing a traitorous game that many are seeing through.
Trashing the country for their own gains.

Corporations are people but yet those "people" are not required to be patriotic nor look out for the best interests of the nation through their policies.

Millions of Households in America are supposed to run their families like a business were told, and extract as much wealth as possible for savings, but they are on the other hand supposed to be patriotic and support the country by whatever means possible.
