The same statements can be found by segregationists following the 1967 Supreme Court's striking down of Virginia's interracial marriage laws.

A Virginia Judge upheld that State's ban on interracial marriages saying, in a language with the same rhetorical tone as used against gay people today:

"Almighty God created the races white, black, yellow, malay and red, and he placed them on separate continents. And for the interference with his arrangement there would be no cause for such marriages. The fact that he separated the races shows that he did not intend for the races to mix."

Sorry to break this to you, but all the public opinion polls - such as Pew, Quinnipiac, ABS News, etc. - indicate that the Majority of Americans are in favor of Marriage Equality.

The manipulated polls don't translate into votes. It's not equality that homosexuals want, it's acceptance of their perversion as normal.

Oh, then what did the voters decide this past November in the following states:
  • Maryland
  • Washington
  • Maine
  • Minnesota
Huh?

Homosexuality is not a perversion, but Homophobia is a form of bigotry.

Voting is not a requisite for being in the minority or being in the majority on any given subject!

A majority of people can be unhappy with Congress, but when a minority of people vote to keep the status quo, they aren't representing the opinions of everyone. They represent the opinions of people motivated enough to vote.

Two kinds of people are often super motivated on social issues such as gay marriage: Those with a stake in it (gays and allies), and those who are religiously motivated to oppose it. That is where the turf battle is. Many who support it or even not support it may still not care that much to bother entering into the fray.

Yes, we know. Any poll that disagrees with the right-wing viewpoint is manipulated -- just like those polls that showed that Romney was going to lose.

Homosexuality is not a perversion, but Homophobia is a form of bigotry.
There are 41 states that voted against it. Homosexual behavior is absolutely a perversion. If homophobia is bigotry, so be it, it's bigotry against sexual perversion.

But your biased view of what constitutes perversion is irrelevant to the legal facts. And make no mistake, this is a legal issue, not a moral nor a religious one.

41 states where the natural constituency of those against gay marriage (older folks) are dying off, and being replaced by younger folks who overwhelmingly support it. Overwhelmingly.

Hear that? That's the sound of your era of ignorance sunsetting.

Tick tock.

Don't like it, there's always the third world and the middle east.

I see it as all three. I hope enough SC Justices see it that way too.
