Because there are people out there that molest children. Talking about inappropriate touching and that they should tell an adult if it happens could save a child.

The overriding issue is at what age should a child be taught about sex. Irrespective of how educated children are today, a 5 yo is not ready for sex ed. Any objective person who thinks back to their fifth year of existence, if you can actually remember it, knows full well that 5 yo is too early. They come out of many schools not equipped to deal with life academically. Maybe the CPS should focus on that instead of inculcating them with the birds and the bees.

That's a very good point Rose, very good. With parents these days with the schedules being frantic, both parents working, children need to learn this education from somewhere, and parents often don't have the time.

Oh don't you worry about that. I do know what you're like. You've made that very clear all by yourself.

So then the objective is not sex ed? Do you want to teach 5 YO children all of the ills that can befall them? Really? I have a great idea. Why not let them be kids for God's sake? There will be time enough as their life goes on to deal with the **** life has to offer. Geez.

And some union teacher reading from a book not knowing anything about that 5YO is going to teach him/her?

I get a kick out of the libs bleating and braying about sex ed for 5 YO but see nothing about real education. Pretty much sums up what is important to libs......................... Anything below the waist. Nothing above the neck.

The average age for first abuse is 9.9 years for boys and 9.6 years for girls.
Should we teach them of the danger before or after it happens?
