sorry lost, your comment here confirms my word "ignorant". (by "ignorant" I mean uneducated on this particular subject.) You clearly dont understand that a person with serious intent, and multiple 10 round mags, can in fact shoot just as fast as one with a 30 round mag. it takes no more than a half second to drop a mag and reload.
Those 26 precious lives would not have been saved by passing this kind of law. But they could have been saved, if those teachers had been trained and armed.
Those 26 precious lives could have been saved, if the laws had not been changed in the 1980s that block involentary committal of mentally unstable people.
(this is not a dig) I respectfully ask you to look into exactly how long it takes to drop a mag and reload. all this kind of law does is limit law abiding citizens who might be legally carrying
We use to tape 2 mags together for a faster re-load. Some guys taped 4.
There're a few people in Newtown who think we were in hell last December. So there's that.
You are absolutly right. And i am beyond mad that our lawmakers are focusing all in the wrong areas and not looking at very sensable things that in fact could stop that mind of insanity.
We CAN drive down violent crime and we can stop Newtown type shootings. But just focusing on guns and not dealing at all with the underlying causes behind volent crime and mass shootings is simply insanity.
When i was growing up in the 60's we were taught they were called CLIPS. IRRC That was taught to us by a VETERAN of WWll, that fought in France.
I will say magazine is you need me too.
Because, he was most likely using a M1 Garand which used an 8 round En Bloc Clip.
Meanwhile, have you considered the North Hollywood Shootout? The Police are citizens and also law abiding (or they're meant to be). They certainly used 30 round magazines, and "AR15's" Sporter II's I think since AR15 is a prohibited assault weapon in CA, Both of these IIRC (since I think the mag limit came into effect in 2000) were obtained from a civilian FFL B&B Guns, since the cops were woefully outgunned. Later SWAT showed up with approved weaponry.

My, how quickly we jump to personal attacks.

Magazine limits wouldn't help? Why don't you tell that to the survivors of the Arizona shooting who subdued the shooter while he was reloading. How many lives do you think were saved then?

Do you not recognize the contradictions in your statements? If reloading is insignificant, then a law abiding citizen with 10 round magazines is not at a disadvantage versus a criminal with illegal 30 round mags. Furthermore, as you've already stated, the good guys don't come packing for a shootout... how many people do you know that conceal or open carry a gun with a 30-round magazine? I live in Texas with many friends who carry, all with magazines in the 10-15 round range.

Says you, I find mine to be completely necessary. Standard capacity magazines also are better for seniors and those with disabilities as reloading could be more challenging than a normal man or a women. Why do you want to discriminate against seniors and the disabled?

I had to use two 30 round magazines when my neighbor starting blaring The Bee Gees on his stereo. Disco Stew is through. Cops gave me a medal. The moral of this story: Death before Disco. I know, I know - but how can I NOT answer a silly question with a silly answer.
