I'm sure the authorities have tested all the various backpack and pressure cooker combinations to see if they look similar to the pics. They'd fit better sideways, but I'm sure that's not a good idea!

Start checking student visa photos, but the FBI is way ahead there. Hopefully these two didn't hop the first jet back to Saudi Arabia, public or private. The TSA was probably way ahead too checking every 4 year old girl and wheel chair bound 80 year old.
Whats the old saying... open borders, closed caskets?

They also come in various sizes. I have a fairly small one.

A 6-quart pressure cooker isn't very big.

Amazon.com: Fagor Splendid 6-Quart Pressure Cooker: Kitchen & Dining

With the handles taken off, one could easily fit inside a backpack.

I thought this too. it looks like they are in sideways from the photos. they might have been in sideways and the perps laid the backpak down so that the cooker was upright. One of the lids blew straight up and landed on a roof. I also saw a report that described the devices as being mounted on a board. If so it wouldn't matter if it was in sideways as the components would be secured to the board. If we ever see the video of the perp placing it in the location that would answer it.

CNN saying suspects planted the bombs, stayed to watch, then walked away casually.

Straight up psychopaths.
