If you've seen the video of the bombing, no doubt you noticed the runner who was knocked off his feet by the pressure wave of the blast.
Seattle-area runners in Boston: ‘This is probably it for me’ | The Today File | Seattle Times

That was Bill Iffrig, age 78, and a well-known and well-loved fixture on the Seattle running scene. Last year he had the best times in the region for his age group in the 5K (22:43) 10K(46:36), half marathon (1:41:02) and marathon (3:50:33).

Just take his 5K time of 22:43. That's just over 7 mins per mile, which is faster than the average 19 yr old can run a 5K. According to the interwebs, the qualifying time for the Navy Seals in a 1.5 mile run is 11 mins, 30 secs. so Mr. Iffrig runs over twice the distance at a slightly faster pace, at age 78.

NW Runner magazine did a profile of him several years ago. He was born and raised in Everett WA. He worked for Kimberly Clark and later as a mason. He has raced all distances up to 50 miles, but prefers the intensity of the 5K. Mag editor Martin Rudow noted that they "have received more inquiries about Bill Iffrig than any other." We have some good runners in the NW, but nobody consistently posts more eye-popping age-group numbers than Bill Iffrig.

I have a feeling that just about 99.9% of Americans think that these guys are absolute scum.

Let me ask youo this: Has Alex found any other person who was at the race at the finish line area who can corroborate this "story" supposedly being told by this UM Coach? Anybody? Or was the UM guy the ONLY PERSON who head this "announcement"??

At a public event, when an announcement is made, LOTS of people hear it; otherwise, what is the point of an "announcement." So WHERE are the other people who heard what the UM Coach is saying he heard? Corroboration is very important.

Or does this UM Coach think that he was the only one the government wanted to "hear" that announcement?

The point is that Obama should have called this exactly what it is, terrorism AND a tragedy.

This would only be a MA state case...even if the Feds help with the investigation and/or evidence. MA has no death penalty, thus the person or persons responsible will NOT face the death penalty.

At any rate, this one smells home grown. Just a feeling I can't shake. I'm smelling Skinheads or some such. Or, its a damn vood job of making it look that way. Whoever did it, they will find. Gloves are coming off. This is gonna be messy.
I feel it's home grown too but not skinheads. That isn't their MO. I don't think this was race motivated.

The point is that it is a tragedy & at that time, the president shouldn't make political statements. He should be comforting the nation. Unfortunately, there will always be those out there who need to **** & whine & make it political. Pathetic.

They really going to picket a funeral after an attack on the citizens of Boston? Do they really want to taunt a whole city at this time?
