My ancestors were highly qualified and fairly wealthy people when they came here from Germany and Norway. My grandpa and grandma spoke German in their home but any of their children caught speaking anything but English got their mouths washed out with soap.
My Grandpa was a successful farmer and a master carpenter and was willing to work, unlike so many of these sh@t puppets that are coming in here wanting to drive a cab or sit in some parking lot booth.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but if your Norwegian and German ancestors had been highly qualified and fairly wealthy people, packing their bags and start a new life in a another remote continent would have been the last thing that crossed their minds.
The average European emigrant in the 18th and 19th centuries was poor sod who could barelly write or read, and took his wife, 10 children and two goats in a boat as a desperate resort to avoid a certain death by starvation.
Rich people never emigrate, they become "expats" when they want to spend some vacational time overseas, or indulging in some high paid hobby, as CEO for a top 500 company.
Accept it: your ancestors were flleing from hunger and desease, as most Europeans did.
