Being born in the US doesn't mean you automatically know how to speak English. You could raise a child to speak Spanish and they can still be a naturally born citizen.

Pull your head out of your butt. "Plenty of Americans" would have learned english before entering the school system. Illegals, on the other hand, would not. Although we do not technically have an official language, English has been the language of this county since before it was a sovereign nation. ELS classes should be paid for by the individual, not the tax payer, and a good grasp of the english language should be established before entry into public school.
I know this is a difficult concept for some, but, Denver is a large metro. There are people living here from ALL over the world. Many are legal immigrants. And, they bring their school-age children with them when they come here to work.
Short of having separate schools for native Russian, Ukranian, Ethiopian, Spanish, French, German, etc. speakers, what would you consider the ideal solution?
I've no idea why the OP or anyone else has a problem with kids being given a little extra time to actually learn English. If the parents have a poor command of English, where should the kids learn other than in school?

Doesn't change the fact that we still need to teach English in our schools. If I am not mistaken I took a number of years of English in school even though I was born here and my first language has always been English.
Sure, then don't pay for people to be more proficient in English, therefore adding to the problem of people not knowing the English language. You not liking people who don't speak English doesn't change the fact that it is good to teach people living in this country English.
Why should they be a burden? If their parents truly cared they would have made the effort themselves & speak English in their household to help correct the problem.

So to live in the US one must give up their language, even though we don't have an official language. No thanks, I do not support people giving up their heritage just to live here, but then again I am not that self centered.

I am sure it is mentioned on the review of the Supreme Court, I suggest you read it from them if you are wondering why the Supreme Court needed to weigh in on this.
