No. The Constitution text says UNREASONABLE search. Pretty much everyone agrees the airport security is a reasonable search, not to mention it is also voluntary. You do not have to go to an airport. Do you really think we should allow people with guns and bombs into planes given the fact that such idiocy has already cost the lives of thousands of people. If you don't like it, then don't fly.
For a search to be "unreasonable," there must be lack of probable cause.
Quote:
The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.
So the question is; what is considered "probable cause?"
Quote:
A common definition is "a reasonable amount of suspicion, supported by circumstances sufficiently strong to justify a prudent and cautious person's belief that certain facts are probably true."
Racial (and religious) profiling would be a lot more effective to stop terrorism than having the TSA throw away an innocent person's tube of toothpaste.
Or breast milk.

I'm not willing to give up or compromise even one tiny bit if freedom in exchange for safety. I want the country to remain as free and open as it was intended to be.
If that means I get blown the hell up, then too bad for me. I'm not gonna live forever anyway. But I wanna die in a free America.
It is not just you, because about 300 other people would have to die with you. The society cannot sacrifice that many innocent lives just to appease your sensitivities.
I am absolutely willing to sacrifice freedom for safety. That's why I support congressional republicans who want to deny Dzhokhar Tsarnaev his constitutional rights by declaring him an enemy combatant.
We have a right to travel, but not necessarily to fly.
Exactly.
Further, let's pretend we do have a right to fly. I would suggest that my right to fly must be balanced against your right to not be blown out of the sky by a bomb in my underwear.
Like the practice of not paying kidnappers....ever....locked cockpits and the known practice of never giving in to highjackers....there would be little need for anything other than minimal security checks at airports

Therefore, we can put you on the record as choosing safety over liberty.
that is why I drive instead of flying. I also tell the TSA vipr teams to get lost too.
the security checks at airports wont get any better until more people drive and less fly.
when the airlines really feel it in their pocketbook, then the TSA will end up going away, not until that happens will it change.
Given that I currently have no desire to travel overseas and there is more of this vast country that I want to see, I too would rather drive. That is all we did when going on vacation as a child, and so I've seen or passed through about 17 states. Besides, half the fun is getting there.
