In fiscal year 2012, DHS purchased more than 103 million rounds of ammunition, to be used by about 70,000 DHS officers who are currently authorized to use weapons. Rep. Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah, said Thursday that "the math" didn't make sense, pointing out that this means an average 1300-1600 rounds per DHS officer – some 1000 rounds more than the average for an officer in the Army.
1300-1600 rounds per armed officer per year isn't much, less than 150 rounds per month. It's a reasonable minimum to maintain proficiency and far less than many civilian shooters go through.

I saw an article a while back about the 2.6 billion rounds DHS had purchased. It went on to state that since last November that US civilians had bought some 110 billion rounds.

How many armed federal agents to we have now? Less than 100 years ago, when the FBI was created, Congress did not allow the FBI to carry guns because they were leery about having armed federal police. If the FBI needed armed presence, they were supposed to get someone from state or local police to help them out.

Napolitano is on the way out, expect her to be thrown under the bus in a very short time.

Since when did the country become a socialist dictatorship? This is news to me, but at least we won't have to worry about the 2016 elections anymore.

If they have to qualify or expend a certain amount monthly, it isn't unreasonable to think they would have to shoot three weapons--rifle, shotgun and pistol. For the rifle I would think two mags of .223 (60 rds), shotgun 4 boxes (20 rds) and pistol maybe 3 mags (45 rds); so 125 rds per practice. Plus they probably carry at least double that for their operational load out.
Ammo adds up, especially when using semiautos.

Add their ammo purchase to civilian targets, a fully auto concealable assault rifle, coffins and armed DHS vehicles, what do you come up with now? They are preparing for something.
