Here's the background that historically-clueless people are missing: Bay of Pigs--Mogadishu--Benghazi. It is starting to seem that another Democratic president with good intentions and lousy intel lost more Americans in an ill-fated attempt to "help" against dictatorial forces. Clinton did far better in the Balkans. Kennedy far better in dealing with missiles in Cuba. But each of these three presidents had a very public and embarrassing fumble with poorly understood crises. The history is mixed. Kennedy ended up assassinated as a possible repercussion of Bay of Pigs. Clinton recovered from the botched Somalian adventure. And it seems likely that Obama is going to shrug off Benghazi. But there will be considerable political football as there was in all these situations. The hunt for Bin Laden went so well that I guess we thought this should have been handled. And now that we consider it all, Carter had the same damage from the Iranian revolution. The embassy hostages may have come out alive, but they never should have been hostages. How could his advisors let this happen? Giving the Shah asylum was an enormous bungle in my opinion. Its a lot like how France gave all those dictators asylum. A western democracy should never be an escape option for dictators whose time runs out. The International Court and prison should be their real option.
The Right has been trying to find a Dem. who they say is as much a crook as Nixon was, hense the Watergate reference.
This is not their opportunity.
The last Pres. to resign was R.M. Nixon, the Last VP to resign was S.Agnew both crooks and both Republicans.
He let them ****ing die you idiot! Are you that much in love with this bastard that it blinds you? What a goddamn disgrace to the country Obama and his sycophantic supporters are.
Obama let them die? What, exactly, should he have done?

Bush let 3000 people die. Did that chill his supporters' ardor? Why are six so much more important that 3,000? I guess Bush sycophants can accept anything from the Shrub they love so much.

There was about 8 years of history missing in your post, I guess all went well from 2000-2008.
