I cannot believe the violent crimes being committed, especially those murdering or attempting to murder girlfriends or boyfriends (Jodi A.), or their own children (Casey A.). Here's yet another one:

Rebecca Kasper, ASU student, found murdered in bathtub; boyfriend charged - Crimesider - CBS News

And so many more. It's just mind boggling. What's going on??

Why did you choose these people to represent Generation X?

This type of behavior is unknown to human history before Gen-X.

Violent crime rates are at an all time low since 1950. Statistics point to the idea that the boomers, when they were younger, were probably more violent.

Good question. All I know is that when I was growing up (I am 64, so their parental generation), these kinds of crimes by that age group were virtually unheard of. That's why I'm asking the question. I'm open to all viewpoints.

Gen X is people born between 1960 & 1980 so I don't think those people in the story you referenced are part of that generation.

Interesting. What kinds of violent crimes? Armed robberies/killings, gang killings, or violent murder of relatives and partners? It's the latter that sticks out today.

You becoming more aware of it is what's going on. It's nothing new at all. This isn't a 2008-2013 phenomenon

I wasn't born under a rock. I grew up in a city that today is number 1 or 2 nationally for violent crime. We also had the mafia mobsters. In addition we had one of the best city dailies. I would have heard of it.
