Unless they are paying child support I believe they should get 3 years in prison for each child they father out of wedlock and our taxes end up paying for. Then we could all buy stock in Trojan Co and be set for retirement.
But seriously, how long are we going to allow this cycle of ignorance, poverty, welfare and crime to go on? It's like a ponzie scheme.
With today's DNA technology this law would be very easy to enforce. Maybe 3 years is not enough?
The prison system is already in a budget crisis and over capacity, I think there are better ways to handle this. How about we make marijuana possession a misdemeanor with different fines such as 1st time $100, 2nd time $200, 3rd time $500. We could do the same for small dealers, but charge higher fines. Or we could completely legalize it and tax the **** out of it and cut down the DEA!
This is already being done. If you don't pay child support you lose all licenses (professional, driving, etc.), lose your passport, and have to go to jail until you pay off the back child support.

Assuming a deadbeat doesn't have much money to begin with, how will they ever pay child support in the arrears if they're in jail?

I think that is up to the individual court. Some courts will let you out on work release, but usually the court assumes you have money hidden away somewhere or you can borrow it from your family.
This guy got 20 years for not paying because failure to pay is a felony where he lives.
"Circuit Judge David Clinger recently sentenced Andrew Tayrien to 20 years in prison for non-support, a class B felony. Tayrien owes more than $50,000 in child support. He must serve at least one-sixth of the sentence before he is eligible for parole."
YES. Maybe this will teach men to keep their penis in their pants unless they're willing to stick around and parent a child they produce.
Can men get abortion rights?
