This is the thinking that Obama supports and even in the past has voted for.

Abortion means terminated pregnancy. A woman does not have a late term abortion because she forgot to have one in the two previous trimesters.

Using terms like "post-birth abortion" and " a " 'baby' struggling to survive" are the new gobbly-**** mantra of idiots. The fact is if a woman is seeking a late term abortion, there is a major problem with the preganancy. If a "baby" were born durring a late term abortion with most of it's skull and brain misssing, with extreamly little chance of surviving only hours...what should be done?

Terms like "baby" and "Mommy" are not used in Law, Science, or by Health and Medical professionals.

And I'll be quite frank: most of my abortions are elective in that 20-24 week range. . . . In my particular case, probably 20% [of this procedure] are for genetic reasons. And the other 80% are purely elective.

In June, 1995, Dr. McMahon submitted to Congress a detailed breakdown of a "series" of over 2,000 of these abortions that he had performed. He classified only 9% (175 cases) as involving "maternal [health] indications," of which the most common was "depression."

Depression can be treated.

For what reasons are partial-birth abortions usually performed?

You can dismiss the link but it's a part of the record elsewhere if you really care enough to double check the information. Now what magically happens in your opinion between 24 weeks and 25 weeks that would make things different?

Now in the case you present, what should be done? The being should be treated with more compassion than we would accept for a dog. If someone stabbed a dog in the back of the head to kill it we would demand actions to be taken against that person.

What about those that abort because it's the "wrong gender" ?
"Selective abortion" is happening but not hitting the headlines.

See how "casual" abortion has become ?

I believe that abortions for birth control or slective abortions are wrong. but it would be hard to monitor.

I dont believe that rape, incest, or life of woman are the only acceptable reasons for abortions. family planning choice, and a woman choice to have a child have as much right.

once the woman or couple learn the sex, there is no need for them to notify anyone that their abortion is because of sex.

That is something that is more common in countries that limit the number of children you are allowed to have. I would be willing to bet that it only happens rarely here.

Simple solution.

Instead of banning abortion we just make it illegal to tell the parents the sex of the fetus.

late term abortion is very rare and health issue for the mother or the baby. the "choice" is never easy as most of these pregnancies are very much wanted children. the issue is between a mother and her doctor.

the reasons all other abortions are none of anyone's business except the woman having the abortion. her body her choice

So because we wouldnt want to stop something thats wrong, we will just create a law making something dumb, illegal... Yeah, that makes a lot of sense.. not..
