The 4th of July is a tough day for liberals (Wizbang)

Harvard: July 4th Parades Are Right Wing
Democratic political candidates can skip this weekend's July 4th parades. A new Harvard University study finds that July 4th parades energize only Republicans, turn kids into Republicans, and help to boost the GOP turnout of adults on Election Day.

"Fourth of July celebrations in the United States shape the nation's political landscape by forming beliefs and increasing participation, primarily in favor of the Republican Party," said the report from Harvard.

A Hollywood Republican » Democrats Hate Independence Day
Democrats have been at the front lines of flag burning, championing the Pledge of Allegiance challenges, criticizing politicians that wear American flag pins, refusing to follow the protocols during the National Anthem (U.S. Flag Code), anti-nationalism and just about anything else that could be considered anti-patriotic. Sure, Democrats like concerts, baseball, barbecues and a good show, but do they really approve of the essence of Independence Day? In a world where Democrats overwhelmingly support political candidates like Barack Obama, those for larger stronger centralized governments, they simply cannot.

The 4th of July is about pride for the United States of America… it is about liberty from a large centralized government with unchecked powers… it is about freedom for the people who live in this nation… it is about the ability for Americans to have the ability to pursue happiness unencumbered by an over-licensing, over-registering, over-regulating, over-taxing and over-burdening government.

That is why Republicans love Independence Day and Democrats hate it.

Or not.

It's a day to celebrate an important event (well, series thereof) in history.

Wouldn't it be grand if we could celebrate one holiday without it becoming "liberals this" or "conservatives that"?

Really and how many Democrats do you personally know that hate the Fourth of July? I know a lot of Democrats and not one has any issue with it. Tell the truth some time, it shall set you free!

I dont think they hate it, they just have trouble relating to something some of them want to destroy or to use Obama's words...transform.

Here is the truth. God knows if liberals get their way from here on out, if there is any celebrating on the 4th in the future, it will be what once was. Like it or not liberals, transforming our country towards are more powerful government is the complete opposite of what this nation was founded on.

Are we really so blindly idiotic that we make one of the most important American holidays into a partisan issue?

This is true. Everyone knows that the 4th of July is a special day just for jingoistic, xenophobic social conservatives to pass judgment on the rest of us as not being "REAL 'MERIKUNS." They have that right, you know. It says so right in the Constapooshun!

Conservatives are, undoubtedly, more fascinated by bright, shiny objects.

Not "we" but yes apparently there are people who are so blindly idiotic that they would make the Fourth of July, Veteran's Day, Memorial Day, Christmas and Thanksgiving a partisan issue. The irony is that this behavior is unpatriotic while they are implying that liberals are the ones being unpatriotic.

Nice way to denigrate those Democrats and liberals who have ensured the continued independence of this country through their service, especially those who have died, given limbs, and/or sacrificed their mental health in doing so.

OP, your grotesque representation of what an American is would surely have made our political forefathers puke!!!!

In all honesty, there are some Liberals who shouldnt celebrate the 4th. The ones who vow, like Obama, to transform our country. Who see the Constitution as something pesky that they have to find a way around to get their agenda through. They really shouldnt bother celebrating.

They stand against the basis of our Constitution, limited government. They want nothing but a more powerful government, and we say another step towards that with Obamacare. They just opened the door to the government into our private lives. You get into health care, that's a doorway into nearly any aspect of our lives.
