That of course is the problem with closing one eye, squinting with the other, and trying to get the whole picture.

Why are you only concerned about gun deaths, as if murder/suicide would stop if guns ceased to exist?

Would you truly be more upset if your loved one was shot to death Vs. stabbed/poisened/suffocated/beaten to death?

My question is this. If someone believes that the rights our Constitution guarantees are flawed, why don't they move to a country that has a structure more in line with their way of thinking? This isn't a "go live in France if you don't like it" comment; this is a genuine question to those who think that there are that many things that other countries do better than we do.

Our founders had amazing foresight, and put a lot of thought into our Constitution, and in particular, the Bill of Rights. How can someone claim that they had it wrong about what they considered to be second only to free speech, but right about everything else?

These rights which are guaranteed by those amendments aren't stand-alone. They're intertwined. Collectively, they ensure that the government won't turn on its citizenry and subject them to tyranny. The backbone of this ingenious system of defense against a government that would do such things is the right to keep and bear arms. Without it, all the other rights are subject to forfeiture, either voluntarily or by force.

So again, I ask, if you honestly believe that some other country is so much better than the United States, based primarily on their system of government, which might allows for such things as gun bans, socialized medicine, or whatever your primary interests are, why are you still here? Why are you trying to change this country, which was designed specifically to be different than the others, into something that it wasn't meant to be? If there's another place that you feel would suit you better, why aren't you there?
That's why the confederacy wanted to secede and make their own country just so they could continue to keep slaves. Looks like Lincoln thought we should love it and change it in order to have a "more perfect union."

Yet few Americans are aware of the dramatic drop, and more than half believe gun crime has risen, according to a newly released study by the Pew Research Center.

Just think how much it might drop if this country would step up and address it's criminal problem. Try actually locking up criminals, rather than turning them back on the street after minimal sentences. And actually deal with our criminal aliens, who commit a disproportionate share of all crime in this country.

Ok then. How many murders were committed in this country with a gun vs without?

I know facts are sometimes hard to find so here:

Looks like you're wrong again.

Your question assumes there would be an equal amount of murders without guns...there would be less. As there are in the UK and Australia. So your question has no bearing. Why not allow nukes then?
