Seems a large portion don't listen to your arguments that they can not be successful because the man is holding them back. Seems that the majority can indeed think for themselves and don't need you to do it for them.

Secondly, some are doing well in the face of continuing institutionalized Jim Crow? Good for them, they are obviously doubly talented - which they have to be.

In general the middle class blacks also got out. The population of the mass of the city is black and poor. I am sure their is entrepreneurial talent that will advance...but that is a tiny thing that will not effect the large majority who are poor.

The white exodus started in 1950 and continued smoothly into the 2000s. There was no significant change in 1967.
Because Detroit was becoming filled with the poor and the resulting social problems.
So it's understandable why the middle class would leave?
