Biden was chosen bolster the ticket in those regards. He also is very, very strong on foreign policy. He was on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee for decades and was its Chairperson. He was also an influential member of the Senate Judiciary Committee on Terrorism and Homeland Security.
This^. You said it better than I did...this is EXACTLY what happened. Adding Biden to the ticket was a very successful choice for all those reasons.

Oh good lord--if you want to compare liars and buffoons for VP pics in that race, let's talk a little about Sarah Palin, shall we? She's a national joke who's never met a camera that she didn't try to hog. That woman has a little natural charisma, but she's genuinely stupid.

Obama needed a foreign policy wiz, and despite what some of you seem to think about Joe Biden, he really is an expert in that field. He knows and understands just as much or more on foreign policy than any other person in the country.
Nice try....thats why I suppose he told the parents of the Benghazi tragedy....oh your son must of had real balls in a loud embarrassing remark.

Anybody that stupid doesn't know dick about FP... because FP has to do with people, tough you loose.

Foreign policy is about putting the country in a position of global power--it's not always about being people pleasers. What Biden said was crude, but it was an attempt at honoring how brave that man's son was. If he chose to take offense instead, it sounds to me like he has more of an agenda than just Biden's poor choice of words.

"He was also an influential member of the Senate Judiciary Committee on Terrorism and Homeland Security."

Another black mark against him.

DHS has no business existing IMHO:

Let's find the real perps behind 9/11, and lock them up in Fema camps and throw away the key. While they are starving there, DHS can be quietly disbanded

The LAST person a country wants on FP is this type of character.
