Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse from the GOP, Perry to no surprise takes it to a whole new level,....
During an announcement of the signing of the so-called “Merry Christmas Bill,” Texas Gov. Rick Perry and state Senator Robert Nichols (R-Jacksonville) said Thursday that freedom from religion was not included in the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. “I’m proud we are standing up for religious freedom in our state,” Perry said. “Freedom of religion doesn’t mean freedom from religion.”
It certainly does for me. I will not tolerate anyone forcing me to believe anything that I find absurd cultural propoganda. Perry and the rest of his True Believers can take their "beliefs" and shove them where the sun don't shine.
My religion, if any, is my concern and no one elses.

It is hilarious that fundy loons scream and rave about other people's ideas and values being placed on them, like modern science, evolution, literacy...but when asked if they would do the same to others they salivate like a theocratic terrorist in anticipation of doing so. They are jealous of places like Iran where theocratic nuts were able to force their religion onto the population.
Thats fine, thats rick's opinion. Freedom From Religion appears no where in the US Constitution.
Even we Texans know it's time for RP to retire to his ranch.
I hope to god he doesn't run for another term as Governor.
Not sure how he keeps winning since he really does not have that big of a love fest going on here.
I have never done anything to prevent anyone from practicing their religion unless that practice would threaten me or mine or force the government to provide support and places for them to advertize as in placing religious displays on public property. I have a problem with Islam as some of the believers are certain they have the “One Right Way” and are willing to harm me, my friends and my country, if I do not join their delusion.
With respect to religion, the Constitution guarantees "Congress [and due to the 14th Amendment, the States] shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;"
That means that government can't impose religion nor can it stop you from exercising your religion. That clearly means that Perry is wrong (big surprise there.) You can be free from government imposed religion.

At least he's not the moron Gov like in CA or NY.
Perry is far worse. The guy is dumb as hell and makes W look like a genius, he makes the GOP and especially those in Texas look like a bunch of fools as well that they will vote for any complete moron, just as long as that (R) is next to their name,..
