You're correct but most of the people in this forum can't grasp that. They're too busy pulling for their "team" without even understanding that their team is only one of the only 2 in the league.

What objectionable things the government is doing is only one variable. There has to be a fertile intellectual or ideological ground for revolt among the population at large before most people will risk their lives, regardless of the provocation. And that willingness plays a greater role than the immediate cause of a revolt. Look at the French Revolution in 1789; the king fired his finance minister and the Bastille was sacked. In Romania in 1989 the regime arrested a dissident priest, and the whole regime collapsed in two weeks.

Unlike those cases though, we do have other ways to remedy our system, namely elections.
