Kicking the guy out instead of telling him "Okay, convince us." would have been bad teaching if it were a social studies class. But since it wasn't even a social studies class, I can see disciplinary action being called for. Firing's a bit strong, I think. I can't believe the kid made a federal case out of it, though. Man up, kid.

I think to kick out a student who says they do not accecpt the gay life style is the same as saying you have free speech but you can only say this and that nothing else. Its not really free. You don't have to like it, they can not act on it, but we have to tolerate all speech, or we don't have free speech.
