About a million abortions per year are performed in the US. A good law that would make abortion illegal (and abortionists liable for life without parole) would reduce this number by 99.9%. That's 999,000 LIVES saved. Even restrictions on abortion will constrict this number. Even a 20% reduction would save 200,000 lives per year - that's the population of Los Angeles in just 20 years!
And for the "fact" that fetuses are not alive, I could pull out a clump of bovine fecal matter and call it gold, and have about the same truth. Conception starts the first stage of HUMAN development. All you pro abortion people out there, did YOUR life start at conception? Of course it did. Do you think you mysteriously materialized in a hospital room?
Oh and why do they charge the murderer of a pregnant woman with TWO counts of murder?

Well, I also liked that abortionists should get life in prison. Let's say that of the one million abortions quoted, half get an illegal abortion and end up in jail - for life. Thus, we'd add five million "lifers" to our prison population each year. All female. Finally a crime that is gender specific. Sounds like a great America to me. Woohoo.

I could easily see a good, well-enforced "no abortion" law to cut abortions greatly. 99.9% would require some time. At first, it might be a 95-97% reduction, with back-alley illegal clinics and self abortion taking the remaining 3-5%. Over time, police raids and arrests of women who attempted self abortion would create a chilling effect and a >99% reduction in abortion.
Lives saved: 950,000 - 999,000 per year.
I care about saving unborn children's lives and nothing else.
