It's time for the official straight pride thread.

Today's focus is on Thomas Edison.

Thomas Edison was a straight male from Milan Ohio, born on February 11th, 1847. Edison was twice married, to Mary Stillwell and later Mina Miller. His inventions include a stock ticker, battery for an electric car, electrical power, and of course, the light bulb. A great American who made great contributions not just to the straight community, but to America and the world. Today the straight community of city-data honors Thomas Edison: inventor, thinker and all around great American.

No it isn't. I personally haven't seen a single straight pride thread on here. And I haven't seen any parades, or otherwise.

He's just trying to bash traditional marriage until it is so despised and maligned that even gay people can finally climb on board it. I mean, why would anyone defend marriage once it's been ridiculed and made into a laughing stock?

By reading the OP, I see no purpose to this thread.

Where's the proof Edison was straight?
Marriage to a woman does not count.

Given the divorce rate today... it already is a laughing stock. I mean, my wife and I are bucking those statistics, as we've been married what will be 13 years in September, but still we seem to be in the minority these days, as is my son. I couldn't tell you how many of his friends from school come from divorced parents. Having to split custody, and d*** around with visitation rights. What a pain in the a**.

I have no other intent other than to celebrate the accomplishments of the straight community.

Therefore, in celebration of the first day of the thread. I've decided to also honor the 44th President of the United States, Barack Obama.

Barack Obama was born in Honolulu, Hawaii on August 4, 1961. He had a rapid political ascent going from a state housmen in Illinois to President in just 10 years. Obama ended our involvement in the Iraq war and also ended Don't Ask Don't Tell, allowing homosexual military men and women to serve openly. Barack Obama hasn't just made contributions to the straight community, but also the gay community as well. Today, the straight community of city-data would like to honor fellow heterosexual, Barack H. Obama for his accomplishments and contibutions to the straight and gay communities, to America and the world.

A lot of people, no matter their race, ethnicity, etc... are bad at maintaining personal relationships, that's not a reflection on the institution of marriage, it's a reflection on human beings in general.
