No marriage has been dying ever since contraception became widely accepted.
Contraception renders the marriage act not unlike homosexual acts which is why modern people do not see the difference between two women or men lying together and a man and a woman lying together. All is mutual masturbation and closed off to life. When you think about it only a small percentage of sex acts that are performed today are open to life. While the majority are lust and hedonism.
Contraception is a grave perversion against nature and will cost countless people their souls.
-You have kids (or are planning to have kids)
-One partner needs health insurance and cannot get as good of coverage on their own as they could with their partner's plan
-Your combined incomes put you in a lower tax bracket than you would be individually
Otherwise, people are realizing that marriage is just a way for the state to make money (selling the license) so they are simply opting out.
My girlfriend and I have lived together for 2 years. We are committed to each other and are practically married in every sense except that we didn't pay someone for a certificate that says we are. We not planning to have kids yet, and it wouldn't benefit us financially to get married, so we're not planning to get married any time soon. That's just how it works. More people are figuring out that it is often better to "co-habitate" than to actually get married. Good for them.

In some states, there's cohabitation laws. If a couple lives together for a certain amount of years, then they're considered married by the government.

Generally that is only true if couple behaves as if they are married.
Marriage is no longer scared when divorce is an option.
If we truly value family all that, people should be fined heavily if they want divorce, and adultery should be punished too.
In reality, we couldn't care less. :-) So nowadays, marriage is just a farce.
Thus is why I support people getting married at a more mature age, rather than force two people to stay married forever because they got married when they were stupid and 20.

There should be more restrictions on who can marry.
