The radical right have rendered the words useless/meaningless (when they use them) due to the hypocrisy in which they ubiquitously throw them around while sticking their noses in other people's private lives and parts. They very amusingly scream about "you didn't build that" all the while driving on roads that a nation collectively built whille talking on cell phones that that a nation collectively made possible, while supporting an Oligarchy by supporting the theory that corporations are people. They just the talk, but fail to walk the walk.

LIBERTY sounds so right wing..heaven forbid the fascist left who are really the oppressive right would as "liberals" mention LIBERTY or liberation...Liberals originally were about liberating the people...If they are NOT doing that then they are no liberals - hence LIBERTY is not in their vocabulary.

By the way... very very good point. Language is important...the accurate translation of language is important. FREEDOM would signify that each individual should have freedom of thought - action (if within the law) and speech. Political correctness is NOT free speech....equality and the use of the word does not generate equality but submission.

Okay- so freedom is like money- you trade it - you spend it to get some of that fancy security...Security is for sale it seems and freedom is what you buy it with....WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU RUN OUT OF MONEY (freedom)...then how do you buy more security....or do they come and fore close on your security...Sounds like a bad deal to me.

Conservatives - real ones conserve what is of good value..what is tired and true by time is respected. My parents who were very old school Orthodox Christians would say to us as children..."The only thing above your parents is GOD...not the government...below you are the pets and beasts ...below them the crawling things and below that the microbes....I believe this was a thing called law and order - Natural law...Today liberal experimenters put a dog on the same level as a child and sometimes above that child...THAT is out of order....
Fairness in the liberal sense is the pacification through forced equality that results in dictatorship...Few kings are benevolent...unless they are a Christ like figure - who love the people--- Liberal progressives love no one...so they are not fit to rule.

I think liberty and equality (of outcome) are mutually exclusive. The focus on equality reduces liberty. IE, if there are no winners, we'll all be equal. 'We all win'. When really we all lose.
IMO, liberty is individual-based, and equality is group-based.
For example, I'm not supposed to say something that may offend ANY-one, so what happened to my liberty in speech?
"Freedom of speech" is supposed to protect the saying of things we DON'T want to hear. No protection is needed for what we DO want to hear.
