In addition here is womens rights in Dubai even for women citizens of that country:
The UAE adjudicates family law and personal status matters for Muslims pursuant to interpretations of Islamic law, with no option to seek adjudication pursuant to a civil code. The law in particular discriminates against women by granting men privileged status in matters of divorce, inheritance, and child custody.Emirati women can obtain a divorce through khul’a (a no-fault divorce) thereby losing their financial rights. They may only ask for a divorce in exceptional circumstances. Females can only inherit one-third of assets while men are entitled to inherit two-thirds.
Emirati women married to non-citizens do not automatically pass citizenship to their children, a right enjoyed by Emirati men married to foreign spouses.
Despite the existence of shelters and hotlines to help protect women, domestic violence remains a pervasive problem. The penal code gives men the legal right to discipline their wives and children, including through the use of physical violence. The Federal Supreme Court has upheld a husband’s right to “chastise” his wife and children with physical abuse.
In the September elections 85 women out of 450 ran for 20 FNC seats. Only one woman was voted into office.

Anyway a change in topic, the woman has been freed. She is free to leave the country and is pardoned. Which is great news

Do you understand: pursuant to interpretations of Islamic law? This is to say that the interpretation can be opened to another interpretation or redefined.

You need to update yourself on UAE law:

Quote:
On the occasion of the UAE's 40th national day, Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed, President and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, announced a decree granting citizenship to children of Emirati mothers married to
foreigners.
This monumental step for Emirati women will now allow them to pass their UAE citizenship to their children once they are of legal age.

Funny how these rich and privileged men who run this place - hate homosexuals - and it seems they hate woman also...so who do these creeps like - and who do they support? The answer is simple- these power mongers only like THEMSELVES.

You are off topic. We aren't talking about the US (or Canada for that matter).

Yes she has been freed, yet the government in Norway did have a role in her release. there is a case of a Australia gang raped but sentenced to 8 months jail in Dubai. Yet the Australian government did not do really anything to help her get out of jail.

She cautions others to be aware there are risks to reporting When Amanda went to police to report that she had allegedly been drugged and gang-raped by colleagues, she thought the worst of her ordeal was behind her. Instead, days later she found herself branded a criminal and locked in a dirty prison cell. She was sentenced to a year in prison for having had sex outside wedlock, and she spent eight months in jail before being released.

So the reporting rape incidents over in Dubai or middle Eastern Country is very risky.

You know, I get annoyed when gun lunatics inject their dimwitted knuckle dragging agenda into every thread no matter how irrelevant, so now I need to be fair.

This incident has nothing to do with the tea party or Republicans, so just stop.

Dubai sounds like a perfect place for ALL women to avoid, and any men that support women's rights. Let the conservative muslims be the only inhabitants /visitors to this place. You can come to Orlando, we take care of our tourists.

They have foreign nationals working as slaves in this place- They live in squalor and can not make enough money to leave. It is not about woman's rights- If you do not have at least a few million in your bank account - it does not matter who you are - You have no human rights. YOU have to realize that those who persecute woman will also persecute men- They see no difference.

Where were those reports on MSM?
