Why am I paying for their employee's health care and food stamps?
But not the mom and pop down the street? Lots of people leave minimum wage jobs at local businesses to take a minimum wage job at Wal-Mart because they have a chance at advancement and even ownership that they'll not get at a small place.

Why are you paying for employee's healthcare at mom and pop? Or, do you think like D.C. apparently does that they should stay home for the full dole?

Don't live above those means.
And what happens when those with high skill sets begin to be paid below minimum wage so employers can increase their profits? If a business is going to employ people, then they should pay those people enough to not need government assistance, or even better, for every full time employee that a company has that is needing government assistance, the government should then bill that employer for the extra costs.

Show me ads for surgeons paying $5 an hour, please. Or CFOs. Or plant managers. Or Financial Analysts.

What percentage of state and federal government employees earn about the same as the average Wal-Mart worker?

Urbanlife78 is pretty detached from reality.

People get the wage they earn. If they want more money then they should learn a skill to get a better job instead of expecting the government make their employeed give them more money for the same work.

The proposed D.C. wage for Wal-Mart is less than some jobs working for the D.C. government.

And if you propose that the government pay to feed employees, I assume that means kids too? Any limit? 4? 6? 12?
