It doesn't matter that Obama is working with "Republican" senators. They'll come up with something ludicrous like cutting 5% of the budget deficit and then hail it as a great victory for financial responsibility.

Of course, the federal employees could always quit and get another job if they feel their pay isn't sufficient. Millions of people take that course of action during their career.
You just don't get it, do you.
They did their part with no cost of living allowances during a period of high inflation for 4 years.
And 20% pay cut on top of it.
There will be houses lost, cars repossessed and food stamps and unemployment and health care support required.
We could pay for their salaries with a week with no war.

About 700,000 of those are civilian Defense Department employees who have been furloughed one day a week for 11 weeks so the pay cut is limited to 11 weeks, I think.

I don't believe inflation has been high over the last 4 years here. Do you have a link?

Again, if Federal workers feel they are not being paid enough or are being treated unfairly, they are free to leave and find another job that better fits their economic needs.
Millions of people have done that very thing.

During the debate Obama said sequestration wouldn't happen. He thought the republicans would cave to anything he tried to ram in, even though he just got a tax increase he tried to add another tax increase in the sequestration law in order to stop it. When republicans said no new taxes, Obama went on a fear mongering campaign... hell, fear scaring the crap out of his base worked during the election so why not right?

When people realized Obama was full of it, Obama shut down the WH tours but took a $100 Million trip to Africa.

Anytime Obama talks to anyone he is after your money.

Yet the government keeps doling out the welfare, food stamps, paying for housing, heating, electric and Obamaphones. I just read that Detroit just got more welfare. Lazy is a new profession.

Federal employee jobs were the safest during the recession.
The average federal employee salary is about $75,000. The average for those working in the DC area is > $100K.

This is the beginning of year #3 pay freeze, no?

Inflation has been relatively modest- in line, compared to rates experienced over the past 25 years.

The 20% pay cut is for 11 weeks which translates to about a 4% pay cut on an annualized basis.

Well, if you aren't being directly impacted - then sequestration doesn't seem so bad. But if you are the one who is getting one unpaid day every week - then, not so good.

A lot of financial analysts also think it slowed the economy last month.

Surely working together is good? Then again, you might be right.
