I already know that... but how do they carry their coins? In their pockets and not in their wallets... Coin makes financial sense but it doesn't make it seem convenient... Americans like things convenient and that is probably why it never caught on after multiple attempts... They should look at different ways to produce the dollar bill rather than a dollar coin...

Default heavens to Sue B Anthony!

Everyone will have their pants down around their knees exposing their underwear.

Wonder what the cost and environmental impact is between mining, transporting, smelting etc vs paper and ink. Coin operated machine mechanics will be doing overtime while owners foot the bill to convert machines.

Suspect projection of 'costs less'. These guys can't get any economic projections right and more often cherry pick info to support their position.

Who care what other countries do.

Doesn't it cost 10 1/2 cents to mint one penny? What'll it cost to mint another Susan B. Anthony sized coin that we'll mistake for a quarter? $1.33? Let's keep printing, and not minting.

The cost of producing a coin is 18 cents, and it lasts 30 years on average. The cost of producing a bill is 5 cents, but they last only 4 years.

How about embedded chips that reveal our net worth, then all we need to do is get scanned at the markets like the goods we buy?

What is your opinion?
We already tried that, and the US government decided to dump all the Susan B Anthony coins off onto our military personnel stationed overseas, where the local money changers would only give them 90 cents on the dollar for them.

Americans have already adapted to digital money, either debit/credit, NFC, online banking. I for one rarely use cash, using mainly my debit card. I can track each transaction on my phone or PC and know exactly where each "dollar" is spent.

seems to me it would be less expansive not more to use paper money. didnt someone say it was more expensive to make a penny than it is worth?

lets do away with .01, .05, and .10 and see how that works.

We can work in multiples of .25
