SNAP has about as much to do with feeding the hungry as the man in the moon.

This is all about Agribusiness, Big Farm and the Big Food - huge corporate farmers and the industrial food complex, banks, insurance GMA seed and chemicals that churn out cheap processed food with negligible nutritional value.

And then there's the domestic sugar growers with dozens of lobbies that want price protection against foreign sugar.

"it's a small minority that abuse it"

"The Agriculture Department plans to announce new steps to crack down on SNAP fraud amid estimates suggesting as much as $753 million in federal food aid is spent fraudulently each year."

$753 million might be small to you but, not tomost of us.And as with most gov't 'estimates, you could probably double it and still be way off.

Ask your Congressman and Senator which lobbies and donations influence their vote.

Also, be aware that EBT cards in some states include TANF in addition to SNAP benefits. Recipients of TANF are free to spend as they please.

Candy has big benefits... eating it makes cavities and then the government will have to fix there teeth. Then they develop diabetes with all that sugar and they can use their medicaid card for treatment. Cradle to grave benefits including free cheese and a bag of chips.

Easter baskets are approved for food stamps as long as it's the ones with no toys in them..only candy.
I would imagine pinatas falls in the same category.

No wonder mexicans are now pouring over the border in very large numbers demanding asylum. It's not because good paying jobs are plentiful but refugees get some very generous government handouts like these food stamps. They don't have to bother with employment and the big joke is that mexico's unemployment rate is very low. They're not coming for the jobs, not those coming now.
