Russia went out of its way to snub and provoke the United States and to humiliate Obama...Obama replied by making it clear that he would not impose any tangible sanctions, such as an Olympic boycott, once again handing another easy victory to Putin....Russia was happy to sign a nuclear weapons treaty that called on only the USA to cut weapons. When Obama sought a second round that would actually impose some cuts on Russia, Putin told him to drop dead....long-simmering resentment of U.S. exceptionalism in both the developed world and in emerging markets seems to have reached a boil....The United States has been rebuked by two major emerging powers. The balance of power is shifting.

At least Obama will be famous for something.
