Unless the family is paying 100% out of pocket for her exorbitant bills, then yes, we all are. A third party payer, be it insurance, Medicare, or Medicaid is pooled and paid for by everyone.
Did they have to mention his ethicity, as if that mattered?? I hoped not to see comments justifying his ill treatment based on his color, as CD trolls on here have commenced. Any teen any color, too young to make mature decisions about this kind of thing, could misbehave as this one did. But that should never matter when care is needed, and he should have been compelled to appreciate that.
The lesson here ........and it may have been learned by this family over the CF/lung transplant girl.....is that if you want a transplant, go public.
Regardless of whether or not you should be eligible, you will be.
Nope. I was against the double lung transplant done twice on that 10 year old WHITE girl whose family sued for an organ in a federal court. This girl would, and did, have a poor outcome.
Race has nothing to do with it for me, the outcome does.
this kid is predicted to have a poor outcome on the basis of his past behavior of failing to take drugs that were prescribed to him. yet to you, the only possibility for anyone to be against him getting the transplant is:

Yes the poor outcome to you is the girl is alive and improving.
Now back to the non drug taking dummy who now can't get on the transplant list...........
I'd like to know what kind of non-compliance. Maybe down the road your kid won't be able to get a transplant if they ever refused a flu shot or ADHD drugs.
Yea..the kid needed a HEART..so let' do the math here...
Heart conditions = verifiable and totally, clinically observable diseases. For you to have a condition where you need a heart transplant...you were OBVIOUSLY prescribed heart meds.
And the best you can do is argue that the insurance boards are going to deny somebody for not taking pharmaceutical cocaine for a very controversial "disorder" that has no tested theory backing it up.
You are reaching....and I'm being very generous here.

My "and he is black" comment was in response to whether, or not, there would be a public outcry about this boy not being put on the transplant list as there was with the white girl.
Did Fox News broadcast video of the 15 year old looking sad in his hospital bed the same as Fox news broadcast of the white girl?

But what about the four other adults who were waiting for lungs and could have been helped instead? Are their lives worth less than hers? Why is it that Americans value children's lives more than adults?

There is a thread about the girl.
Now back to the fool who can't find his medicine bottles..........
