The mood in the room was somber as five doctors, a nurse, and a social worker pulled their chairs around the table and turned to address Autumn Chenkus and Charlie Higgs.

The couple's 5-month-old son, Maverick, was down the hallway fighting for his life, and the doctors explained there was nothing they could do to help him.

Sad, very sad. I'm not going to pretend to have any answers.

But ~ cue the 'death panels' in one, two, three . . . .

This is what happens under Obamacare's Hitler inspired, euthanasia death panels. Obama has this toddler's blood on his hands.

Sad story. One that has been played out forever though and certainly not a new thing.

"You don't want to waste a heart on him," Chenkus replied.
That's correct. And proper. For the same reasons who don't keep giving new livers to raging alcoholics (or shouldn't anyway). The organ being transplanted needs the best chance of surviving. Everyone forgets the organ in the sea of human drama and emotion.

There isn't some heart bush where you can just pluck off hearts and donate them willy nilly to whomever.

There is a scarcity. Choices will have to be made. It's terrible for everyone and would devastate me no matter which side of the equation I was on.

I've been around forever and STILL want to slap the babies who Godwin a thread..by post 3.

I'm also shocked that some people just EXPECT a new organ whenever they need one, while I'm still amazed over the fact that we have the ability to do this at all, under the right circumstances.

Helps to be famous too. Mickey Mantle was a raging alkie who got two livers didn't he?

Sad to see the eugenics movement that inspired Nazi Germany is still alive.

I agree what you say. I also agree with the poster who noted the famous alcoholic with two liver transplants. While I'm not sure that this baby should be a candidate, I'm also not sure that one's level of fame should dictate either.
