So did mine. Unfortunately I was/am allergic to corn and nobody knew that, so I had a hell of a time my whole life.
It has gotten a little better because of consumer complaints, but at one point baby "formula" for WIC was made of HFCS, carrageenan (banned in every other country for terrible health effects), saturated fat, trans fact, animal stress hormones, growth hormones and who knows what else.

That does not sound pleasant. I hope things have calmed down by now.

Yet milk straight from a goat is worse?

The little guy was born premature, so he is going to be small. Also, his mother said he was not growing with formula, but he is growing with goat's milk. Give the baby time to grow.
This is about a mother, in Maine, with a newborn that if feeding a formula to her baby of superfoods and fresh goats milk. She got reported to DHHS. They came to her door and threatened to take the baby if she did not cooperate. They also are finding her choice to not vaccinate this child, unacceptable.
They feel entitled to impose their authority on raising this child because she is on the WIC program.
So, the moral of the story is that if you want to make choices on behalf of your children, don't let their nose under the tent. iow don't seek financial assistance from them, because they will impose their choices over yours.
If you trust them to make decisions for you, fine, but if you don't, prepare for battle.
When you accept assistance from a bureaucracy, don't be surprised when that bureaucracy feels that it owns you. You want to be left alone? Provide for yourself.
Nope. If she doesn't want the government dictating what food her infant receives then she shouldn't take food from the government, whose purpose in giving it to her is to ensure the child receives what it considers proper nutrition. It's not like WIC makes it a secret what its goal is. You take those WIC coupons with the understanding that they are going to ask you questions about your baby's nutrition.
I have to agree with Oldhag1 on this one. If you accept such benefits such as WIC - then you might expect WIC to take some interest in the health of your child. I'm not sure that the young mother IS doing the right thing with her goats' milk and superfoods.
They take it from me and give it to her. I want her to properly feed her child and want to ensure her child is healthy, that's what I ask for that raping of my wallet that pays for her.
You have no say in how she feeds her child. You only get that choice with your own child/children.
Actually I do have a choice in what she feeds the child, in the form of what coupons WIC gives her. WIC is not food stamps, it can only be used for specific items. If she doesn't agree with what they want her to feed her child, she does not have to participate. It is that simple. If you take services from the government, you invite the government in your life.

Yes, if she is taking the coupons from them.
The choice for this mother was in participating in WIC or not. She made the choice to participate so she chose for them to have a say in how her child is fed.
HIPAA prevents the doctor from stating the real reason for the DHHS intervention. I'd bet a kidney there's a boat-load more to this story than this mother is revealing.

I totally agree. Like I said, looking at the picture of that child I can see why there are concerns about him.
