Situational awareness will go a long way. If you are dumb and naive enough to walk passed a group of rowdy teenagers regardless of their race without keeping your guard up then you risk being another victim. Of course some of the victims never saw their assailant coming. These punks are nothing but uncivilized cowards, raised by wolves for parents. It's no mystery why the mainstream media isn't picking up this story. If it were black victims of white punks Al Sharpton would be out marching with his bullhorn and rent-a-crowd, and local authorities would be pressured by politicians to do something and make an example of them.

Raised by wolves for parents...as in plural? As in raised by TWO PARENTS? BOTH a baby mamma AND a baby daddy?
Some of the victims have died. Some still suffer some disability. The next time you are on a jury and a young darling has been killed remember what you see/hear about these things. An unarmed young man can kill.
It'll take a would be victim turning the tables and beating one of these kids near death to send a message to them. But they're cowardly and weak punks, only targeting women or the elderly or someone who's an unsuspecting easy target. Or maybe somebody will have a CCP and will empty their handgun into them. They'd probably get a citation of valor from the Mayor.
This is little different from a trend called happy slapping that was popular in the UK in the 2004-2007 period. Same general theme, a group of kids, commonly Chavs in the UK parlance would congregate in a public place like the High Street. (Open air street for pedestrian traffic with shops on both sides). One of the kids would have a mobile phone with video. As an unwitting pedestrian approached, one of the group would unexpectedly slap or punch the passerby.
This fell out of fashion after a growing number of Chavs were on the wrong side of getting a mud hole stomped in their back side and having it walked dry.

“Knockout” attacks have been reported in several states around the country and now investigators believe three people have been attacked in our area.
Police in Lower Merion are investigating two attacks in the area, and Philadelphia detectives are investigating an attack in Northeast Philadelphia.
Three more "isolated" incidents reported in Philly.
