Another great reason for Obama to support the Al Qaeda Christian killers with millions of our tax dollars? If Obama invades Syria, is it finally time for Americans to get off of their duffs and protest? - time for an 'American Spring?

"
Israel has granted oil exploration rights inside Syria, in the occupied Golan Heights, to Genie Energy.

Major shareholders of Genie Energy – which also has interests in shale gas in the United States and shale oil in Israel – include Rupert Murdoch and Lord Jacob Rothschild. This from a 2010 Genie Energy press release:

Claude Pupkin, CEO of Genie Oil and Gas, commented, “Genie’s success will ultimately depend, in part, on access to the expertise of the oil and gas industry and to the financial markets.

Jacob Rothschild and Rupert Murdoch are extremely well regarded by and connected to leaders in these sectors. Their guidance and participation will prove invaluable.”

“I am grateful to Howard Jonas and IDT for the opportunity to invest in this important initiative,” Lord Rothschild said. “Rupert Murdoch’s extraordinary achievements speak for themselves and we are very pleased he has agreed to be our partner.

Genie Energy is making good technological progress to tap the world’s substantial oil shale deposits which could transform the future prospects of Israel, the Middle East and our allies around the world.”

For Israel to seek to exploit mineral reserves in the occupied Golan Heights is plainly illegal in international law.

Israel tried to make the same move twenty years ago but was forced to back down after a strong reaction from the Syrian government, which gained diplomatic support from the United States. Israel is now seeking to take advantage of the weakened Syrian state; this move perhaps casts a new light on recent Israeli bombings in Syria.

Saudi Arabia is pushing for the US to bomb the Assad regime. The Saudi's are Sunni muslims as are Al Quada, ie, the rebels, and Assad is an Alawite which is a sect of the Shiites. Iran is backing Assad as they too are Shiites so it plays out as Saudi Arabian interests vs Iranian.

Sunnis are fighting Shiites all over the mideast because the later believe in saints from the muslim world after the time of Mohammed whereas Sunni's consider that apostasy. There is also a schism as to who was the legitimate heir to Mohammad's preaching empire after his death. These are the two largest sects and they are at odds with each other.

We are already supplying arms to the Saudi backed groups as far as I know. I really don't like the idea of us getting involved in muslim countries internal and idealogical squabbles.

Has interests in US? It is a US company.

Murdoch & Rothchild own 5.5% each. Sorry but they are not major.

As to the land, who cares. Syria attacked Israel and Israel won. All Syria has to do is fulfill resolution 242 and they get it back. A few simple words would have resolved it in a peace treaty and return of the land Syria took in 1948. Syria doesn't wan't a treaty nor to return land thus 242 not completed. So its in Israel and Israel will do whatever they want with it until then.

the direction of the zionists to destroy the Muslim world by the hands of the U.S. army or NATO. all the problems in the middle East because of this. That is why the USA and the countries of the Alliance should be as accurate as you can act. Why Turkey( Islamic country) could find a common language with the USA? it would be good if in the Arab countries was the state system like in Turkey

What does the fighting between Sunni and Shiite have to do with Israel? Nothing. If Israel didn't exist they would still try to kill each other in the name Allah. If the US enters this civil war its lose-lose situation. The US gains nothing by aiding the rebels. The UN has stood and done nothing. The UN has removed all their troops. If its such a large problem, let Europe take care of it. Israel is moving forward and that's all that matters. Israel has given up enough and its time for their neighbors to recognize them and give something too.

My feelings exactly. This is Europe's back yard, let them police their own problems. And if the Religion of Peace needs more blood on it's hands, then let the Sunni and the Shia have at it and leave the rest of us alone.

Yep; the Saudi's have replaced Saddam against Iran for regional domination. They not only are the rebels main support but with their allies have their fingerprints all over the military coup in Egypt in throwing a democratically elected government. Syria is a proxy war; IMO. Same ole same ole as they say.

"What does the fighting between Sunni and Shiite have to do with Israel? Nothing. If Israel didn't exist they would still try to kill each other in the name Allah" -

you are right , buddy. but dont forget that Iran has a shiit's government( which is opposite US and sunni). Meanwhile, US had supported Irak ( for shiites). Strange really? Of course , each countries nations has freedom of choosing for development's way. But in fact - we've got Arab world where religion is above than government. Take a look at Turkey again( or Kazakhstan and other muslim-turk--mongol countries). Yeah, there are many problem, but religion never divided the population. So maybe is it right - when religion and power are on the same levels, not pretending on leadership. US takes care of own safety but not just of that. All developed countries with higher quality of life are supporters US. Communist, and post-communist countries are allies of Asad . And you ask me , what relation Israel has to Syria? gotta look at the map - Lebanon( ally of Iran) - Syria is between Lebanon and Iran... You said that US gains nothing falling of Asad' regime. Yes and no at the same time. In my opinion USA are balancing on the border their own interests, otherUSA's Allies and interests of Israel. We were discussing about it- no secret- Israel is nervous under the pressure of Iran. Both countries have a mass of weapons . Israel has a supporters against Iran even in Iran ( province Isfagan -there are many jews), and in NATO-countries - heads of largest commercial banks and corporations). Situation is very dangerous. To influence on Iran -needed decision of Iran's population. Likely, Turks-counries could have talking with Iran's power. We have to know where arabic -islamist organizations gets their weapons and money.

On the outside it looks like they hate each other to 99.9% of the world. Which from a political point of view is correct. But they have a trade agreement that's happens once a year and has been in place for decades. So not everything is as it seems. Thus reality depends on the point of view from the outside. The same thing happens with Lebanon. Here is an example of the trade with Syria.

http://www.timesofisrael.com/israel-to-renew-apple-exports-to-syria/

Thus from this alternate view the current version of Syria is more stable than the rebel one may be. Syria has no choice but to tow the line and bang the Arab drum. So even though Syria is aligned with Iran, allowing the rebels to take over will make it worse and not better for the region. We can see proof of that in Egypt under Morsi. In Egypt the military and the people see no advantage in attacking Israel. Morsi's gov't killed a multi-Billion dollar yearly contract by not safeguarding the pipeline Israel paid for. It was easy money. Morsi's gov't wanted Israel to pay the liquefied rate (3 times higher) (shipping) rather than the gas rate which was a direct connection. This is the part that the Western news failed to mention. So now Egypt, who's main clients were Israel and Jordan (also connected to the same pipeline) their income went to zero. They don't have enough oil to supply their country so now Qatar is shipping them free oil. On top of all this, Egypt subsidizes the sale to Egyptians with not enough income coming in to do so. So in conclusion the US needs to stay out of it as intentally or not they are causing more damage then less.
