The Russians have broached a deal to the Syrian government that would see their chemical weapons sequestered by an international force and then destroyed. The Syrian foreign minister has expressed interest.
Has the Russian initiative cut the ground out from under Obama's initiative to bomb Syria, and, thus, made the U.S. look blundering in not being able to resolve the situation without the threat of military force.?
On the contrary. The Russian proposal (actually Kerry's in a way) was prompted by Obama's tough line. It is now important that Congress give approval to Obama so that the pressure to reach a non-violent solution remains on them.

Wt... Am I missing something? Syria uses chemical weapons, says so what?, Obama pushes for strategic strikes, and suddenly Syria is all "okay... take our weapons."

Did Obama come up with the solution to surrender the weapons or did he just threaten to bomb them? What would you say is the better of the two proposals?
I'm noticing that for conservatives this whole situation is not about Syria using chemical weapons, it's about whether Obama looks bad or good. My question is what will Obama haters do after his second term is up and Hillary takes over? Will the derp fest continue with Hillary filling in the blanks where Obama was?

It shows that Russia was right and that there was no need to bomb Syria. They showed that a diplomatic solution is possible without resorting to military tactics. The great peace maker has just been taken to school in the art of Diplomacy.
