Having seen some very sinister pictures of Obama recently and also knowing that Putin can be pure evil...I suggest that the Russians and Americans contained their wack job leaders....IF they start blasting away at each other Putin and Obama who are thrill seekers will be so damned thrilled- don't give them that pleasure...This could go very badly for everyone....Once it starts it will not stop- Don't let it start.
Maybe at the Olympics in Sochi we can create a new sport for them. We send them both down the bobsled run in their boxers. The slowest one loses.
First off, I just want to point out that the Lusitania was a British passenger liner. It was not an conspiracy by the American government to get into the war and the anger felt by the American people was genuine. The sinking was roundly condemned by everyone, even by Germany's allies, Austria and Turkey.
This is because the U-Boat torpedoed the passenger liner without warning as part of unrestricted submarine warfare and abandoned the more humane "cruiser rules" which was the standard at the time. Basically the Germans were not giving the crew and passengers time to get to their lifeboats. In the case of the Lusitania, over 95 children died, including helpless infants who drowned as their wicker baskets slowly sank into the water.
For a time the Germans backed down from unrestricted submarine warfare. When they started it again and starting sinking more passenger liners, the outraged Americans eventually declared war on Germany in 1917 (two years after Lusitania). So did other neutral countries like Brazil.
The question was it worth it? I say this because the United States eventually lost roughly 50 times (?) more soldiers in the war than people drowned on the sunken ships.
I see your point vis-a-vis "worth" and wholeheartedly agree with it.
What is wrong with just letting Syria solve their own issues?
As long as it stays inside their borders noone else should get involved at this point.

For the unknowing the .303 is a round made for the British Enfield rifle used in WW-1 and WW-2. it's telling that is the type of rounds found.

It indicates that while remaining neutral, the U.S. was actively engaged very early in the war, providing war materials specifically manufactured and restricted to usage for commonwealth weapons of Lee enfield and Ross (crap) rifles along with Lewis, Vickers and Maxim L/HMG's.

If you would simply tell your govt to call on Obama and let him know Congress is calling him at the WH, it would be ever so helpful.

OT: next time you run a WW-2 documentary check out the German trucks. If suddenly they seem like Fords you will be correct, as many were. Both H Ford and Joe Kennedy were pro Nazi.
