I believe if you ran a poll, the majority of Americans would come out in support of securing our borders. Where you would find a difference is in how we should deal with the current undocumented population. Libs seem to believe the nation has unlimited wealth, and we can support a continued onslaught of migrant labor, which drives down the wages for the working class. Many also believe these migrant laborers should be entitled to benefits designed for citizens such as food subsidies, free medical care, free education, etc.

What libs ignore is they are encouraging further migration of undocumented migrants, particularly those with children, or those planning to have children. America just offers them a better deal, and so long as they can get away with stealing what is not theirs, they will continue migrating here.

Some may claim that republicans love cheap, undocumented labor, but the reality is, many industries are overrun with them. These cheap laborers have effectively destroyed the wage structure to the point that you cannot run a business of these types without having access to undocumented workers who will accept peanuts (with additional subsidies from the state or federal government). Try running a meat processing plant profitably while hiring American workers. This issue goes far beyond republican or democratic party tendencies.

Of course, you also have the argument for or against amnesty. Libs seem to ignore that Amnesty 1 came with a promise of securing our southern border. That promise went unfulfilled, hence, republicans are putting their foot down. Libs can cry about it all they want, but rewarding undesirable behavior simply encourages more undesirable behavior. I can't imagine what type of children these folk raise. Actually, I live next to a public school, so I have a pretty good idea... This country is in trouble.

It's actually even more simple than a fence. Make a mandatory fine of say $100,000 per illegal if you hire one. Fine anyone for aiding and a bedding an illegal. Take away all social benefits from them. They will deport themselves...

A double layer fence across the southern border would great reduce the flood of illegals and drugs. Natalie, are you ok in the head?

And think of all those union jobs liberal love to build it and man it afterwords.

It is amazing how fiscally conservative liberals get when it comes to securing the border.

There is no need for a full length fence. Just fencing in certain areas. It will force crossings to fewer areas. Making it much easier to patrol.

A double-layer fence was originally the plan but the double-layer requirement was scrapped in 2007.

How much do the free education and medical care cost that the illegal aliens get? How much money is leeched out of the economy that they send to Mexico? How much do the benefits cost that we pay to Americans without a job since the illegal alien is working the job the American could be working?
Quote:
Who is going to pay for that?
We all are.
Quote:
Ever met a Republican willing to pay for anything?
Yes, every one of them. The conservatives are greedy narrative is just liberal propaganda. We oppose taxes because we think the government doesn't spend the money efficiently, not because we just want more money for ourselves.
Quote:
Ever taken a look at who supports these folks coming over the border. How come Yuma-El Centro, Yakima Valley, and California Central Valley has a large influx of illegals and Republicans completely dominate politics??
Because illegal aliens are drawn to rural areas. The more urban an area is the less able you are to live off the grid and avoid law enforcement and the easier it is to work under the table. And the more rural an area is the less presence the federal government has and the more conservative the people tend to be. Your implication that they move to rural areas because greedy Republicans are looking to hire them is bogus.
Quote:
They aren't interested in more border control. I guess we could flip it around and ask why conservatives aren't interested in e-verify or anything else that might stem the tide.
Hey genius, who is it that is fighting against comprehensive immigration reform? Conservatives.
Quote:
Ever taken a look at your Republican neighborhoods and looked at the service people who come in and do the landscaping, remodeling, and domestic work?? You guys are a joke..
No, you're the joke. You're sitting there trying to tell us conservatives that we really want illegal immigration while we're the ones fighting against illegal immigration. It's flat out stupid. And the funny thing is, you probably don't even see the irony and cognitive dissonance in arguing that we conservatives shouldn't want better border security because we really want more illegal aliens. Your position on this issue is boneheaded.
Quote:
By the way why don't you go down to the border and start walking around and see how long it takes for someone to ask you what you are doing?? Bet you haven't done that.
Why would I do that?
