I see post after post in here decrying the tea party.
They are racist
evil
old
trolls
warlocks who hate woman
going to destroy the republican party.
He Liberals if it was all so true then why would you be so concerned in stopping them?
Seems you would understand if the tea party was everything you say they are then it would guarantee a liberal win in every election..
So Liberals why do you want them stopped and what is the point of the labels attacks and smear campaign?

First and foremost, in the process of doing their damage to the GOP, they're doing damage to the nation as a whole, by fostering an environment where egoistic avarice is rationalized.

Second, many of us see a great value in having two legitimate parties that move the nation in a controlled matter toward progress. The destruction of the Republican party does not serve that. Rather, the building up of a strong, centrist Republican Party, repudiating the offensive nonsense of the TPs, does that.

I do agree with the OP that they are in many cases old. The disproportionate number of seniors will disappear in about 10 years but you will still be left with the southern-rural base that doesn't like anything about the government unless it a check or benefit or the military. This shutdown that the Tea Party has been advocating for two years hasn't helped the image of the Republican Party.

Did you read my message? For content? Or did you just scramble to try to come up with an nonsensical reply because you didn't like that someone contradicted what you believe?

I said nothing about being concerned for the TPs. Go back and read my message again, this time more carefully and responsibly.

What I don't like about the Tea Party is they are an angry, uncompromising mob who think that obstructing government is a good thing, and that not cooperating with your ideological foes is the only way forward.

Like many extremist groups all around the world, their idea of progress is to move backwards.

Because they scream the loudest and have proven adept at influencing too many stupid Americans. No doubt they will self-destruct, but there will be collateral damage left in the wake.

what defines obstructing government as compared to doing what the people elected them to do?
