This happened in North Andover, MA. They have had democratic representation at the state level (which is where many of these types of decisions start) for nearly 20 years.

Did anybody else pick up on this:
". Erin drove to a neighboring town after work to pick up her friend."
How far does the school authority extend? Obviously, to the next town, but how much farther?

Or, did anybody else hear the Cox family lawyer say that the SCHOOL lawyer LIED to the court, and said the girl was ARRESTED, when she was NOT?
The court said it did not have jurisdiction!

You must remember, we now live in a country wherein if you do not practice zero tolerance, you may not be able to get blanket liability insurance, and in the cases of school districts, you won't be able to get a retained attorney.

you are conjoining state representation with the politics of the school's admistrators.

Obama is the President, does that count for anything?

Are you honestly claiming that a town in MA who has had democratic representation at all levels of government for decades has a good chance of being run by conservatives?

Or do you want to just blindly defend any liberal?

Another unfortunate example of that old saying "those that can't do, teach".

Why do you people always have to make this a Liberal v Conservative argument?

Zero tolerance policies are in operation all across the country and in districts of every political persuasion. The policies are stupid no matter whether it is a liberal or a conservative that implements them.

1) An over-zealous anti-drug and -alcohol policy;

2) A belief that by having it the school will be protected from liability and to mollify the zealots who push for such restrictive anti-drug and -alcohol policies;

3) The young woman did the right thing and the school should re-instate her on the volleyball team.

[this is the same mindset that keeps marijuana illegal]

IMO most of the time it comes from those unable to make any other kind of argument.
