It is quite simple.
The House submitted a bill that would have funded the government.
The Senate, led by Democrats, didn't like that bill, and instead of working with the House to craft a bill that would be mutually acceptable to both, threw a tantrum and shut down the government until they got what they wanted.
This is why the official seal of the Democrat Party has a yowling baby as a symbol for the whining extreme left liberals who run the donkey party.

The libs must send some weird memos around to other libs with scripted responses to anything that counters or threatens thier liberal views of the world. I am surprised they have not called the republicans "racist", as that is thier usual dispersion.
We have a game of musical chairs going on with the Federal Reserve, the libs, the bankers, and the citizens. Somehow I think that when the music stops, the citizens will be left without a chair.

It's almost not even worth bringing up, because there's zero chance that you'll admit it, but the movement never chose that nickname. You had one sweet old lady that used it, not understanding its modern meaning, and happened to get caught on camera.
If you have any integrity whatsoever, and you disagree with entire groups being labeled or pigeonholed based on the statements or actions of a single individual, you'll at the very least stop using that slur, but you really should apologize for it. You know it's wrong. You know it's insulting. I really don't understand why it's even allowed on this forum, when using many less insulting terms results in an infraction. But the forum mods do what they do, for whatever reasons. You have a choice. Exercise it.
