Not true, they've been talking about it being unsustainable for years, nobody wants to listen, least of all the demorats. You don't eliminate the program, you streamline it for those truly in need.

He knew what time the leaders were speaking. He apparently thinks he's both the Speaker of the House AND the Senate Minority Leader now.

What an utterly disrespectful thing to do to a leader of your own party. When the coverage cut back to McConnell, he had all but finished his remarks, which actually sounded like a more rational, calm-headed version of many of Cruz's own comments. Ridiculous tactic. So totally self-defeating.

The GOP needs to cut these fools loose.
Correct.

Republicans have got to start reigning in their backbenchers and relegate them back to the status of what they are....newcomers that don't know a damn thing about legislation and deal making on the national level.

Face it. The TEA Party is a powerful movement. I know you agree with that, but your blind partisanship won't allow you to admit it publicly. That's ok - we all know that you understand that, even if you can't admit it.

So what, exactly, is wrong with wanting the government to stop spending our money like drunken sailors, anyway?
maybe the way is to get the drunken sailor to be more responsible on his drunks and not give him everthing he wants...

Seems more reasonable than getting rid of the navy.

then why hasn't any tea party republican introduced legislation to solve these issues? They have no problem holding 500 votes to repeal obamacare, but I don't mike lee, ted cruz, rand paul, marco rubio or anybody from the house get in front of a mike and talk about their plans to reform entitlements. Where is the legislation at? Show me a link, where a tea party congressman introduced legislation 40 times to reform entitlements?

Prove it.

Everyone currently calling themselves members of the Tea Party were right along for the ride when GW Bush started two needless wars and gave Big Pharma a giant, budget-busting wet kiss with Medicare Part D.

You can make up as many little claims as you want, but everyone in America knows it's a lie.

I'm very liberal, but I'll say that the Tea Party ideas and concerns regarding the fiscal health of the country are legitimate should be part of a national dialog.

But the OP is talking about being effective. Can you name a single thing the TP has accomplished? It's elected some candidates, but they haven't done anything. Their chosen spokespeople are mostly single dimension blowhards who alienate about 80% of the population every time they open their mouths. Until they can pick better leaders and consider all viewpoints, they'll never get anywhere.

Oh really?
Poll: 70 Percent of "Tea Party Supporters" Oppose Medicare Cuts

Largest driver of our debt is medicare, yet this is how tea party polls when it comes to reducing spending.
