But you're a conservative. You guys believe that business rights trump individuals' rights every time, no questions asked. You believe that employees should be kept in their places and be subservient at all times no matter how disgusting a business treats them. Isn't that right? Now you're changing your tune because the clerk defended himself with a gun???
For the record I support the clerk.
Do you need a new bale of hay to replace the one you had to use to construct that straw man?
For the record, the answer to your question is, no.

Its really not complicated
Employees dont make the rules and if you feel your job puts you at a safety disadvantage, its time to move on. Of course you have the right to protect your person/ property, but 7-11 has the right to discharge you for violating policy.
Harrier sees - so according to you, anyone who supports and upholds the U.S. constitution is a "gun lover".
It also follows by your "logic" that liberal gun grabbers hate the U.S. Constitution.
Why do you hate the U.S. Constitution and what other parts of it do you think should be ignored without going through the proper amendment process?
Do you want free speech to be eliminated? Do you want the government to be able to search or seize you at will? Do you think that juries should be abolished? Do you want limitations on who can vote based on age, race, and gender?
Seven Eleven is a privately owned business. They have every right to establish a "no guns" policy, and thereby, have every right to fire an employee who violates said policy.....
It's really not this complicated guys. I would wager most of you know that I'm a staunch 2A supporter. Even I admit that your right to carry is not absolute. If I don't want you packing in my home. You won't, or you'll leave. Same goes for private businesses.
Do I think it's stupid to tell law-abiding people they can't carry? Yes, because all that does is ensure that criminals will be the only ones who have guns. However, in this country, everybody has a right to be stupid and make stupid policies and standards
Yes, they had the right to fire him. He did not follow 7-11's, "we get robbed all the time, but you are not allowed to defend yourself" policy.
I bet the man doesn't care too much about being fired, now that he's had time to think about it....he's alive, isn't he? I think that trumps a job at 7-11 any day.

You can't refute my words so you default to the "straw man" argument label. Nice. But I see that's a typical ploy used by many conservatives on this board when confronted by logic or observations for which they have no coherent rebuttal. That being said, your answer was exactly what I expected from you.

You obviously don't know what a conservative actually is.
Businesses have a right to establish no-gun policies on conduct in the workplace, and also establish such policies so as to protect themselves from the increased costs of litigation consequent to an employee being killed on the job.

There were no words to refute - you asked a question and Harrier answered it.
You just didn't like the answer because it didn't fit your straw man.
Learn how to make a logical and rational argument with some basis in actual facts, and you won't be summarily dismissed so often.
7-11 should have the right to discriminate against lesbians. Wait, that would be illegal and against the Constitution.
That would be consistent thinking.
