The SNAP Challenge encourages participants to experience what life is like for millions of low-income Americans living on the average daily allowance of only $4.80! We suggest taking the challenge for a week, but some participants last only a few days...

Deep? I wouldn't call it deep. It's a five percent cut, and with it will come motivation for those who are unemployed to get off the government dime and find jobs, and for those under-employed to find better jobs.

The 13.6 percent cut comes out to about $36 a month less for a family of four getting government assistance or $420 a year, according to the Department of Agriculture.

I have seen 2 others posting different amounts..the article from Fox says 13.6% cut so how much is really being cut by?

Maybe it will make those lazy elderly people get off their wrinkled butts and grab their canes, walkers and wheelchairs and hit the pavement. It would be a grand idea to change those pesky child labor laws too since 3 and 4 year olds are old enough to eat a Happy Meal, so they are not too young to work for your keep. And those working poor that hold two jobs can certainly skip sleep and family time and get a third and fourth job.

“Are there no prisons? Are there no workhouses?”

This cut in food stamps is going to hurt the economy. Who are the geniuses in the federal government that think this is a good idea? The economy is still recovering. And food stamps have a stimulative effect on the economy.

We all know who they are and they do not give a rat's a$$ about improving the economy. In fact, they are very purposely sabotaging it.

5% isn't stimulating anything. And, there aren't any geniuses in the federal gov that decided to cut back the allowances, they were a temporary increase that had an expiration date when they were approved. We've hit that expiration date. So, benefits decrease. Pretty simple.
