Temporary programs end by design. When it comes to government assistance like this I favor temporary measures because otherwise you end up paying for them even when they are not needed anymore.

George W. Bush expanded the program to also include disaster victims. SNAP is on of the most effective anti-poverty programs of all time and it is immoral to cut it during a time when job seekers outnumber available vacancies.

It's just part of the Republican war on the poor that includes governors refusing to expand Medicaid, even when the federal government is paying for it.

John Kasich, the Republican governor of Ohio, -- “I’m concerned about the fact there seems to be a war on the poor. That, if you’re poor, somehow you’re shiftless and lazy.”

No starting it in the first place was immoral.
The "victims" are the people who work and have their paychecks looted to fund the vote purchasing causes of the political class.
Charity is voluntary.

Your party has fallen from greatness.

Alf Landon, 1936 Republican nomination for president said this: “Out of this Depression has come, not only the problem of recovery but also the equally grave problem of caring for the unemployed until recovery is attained. Their relief at all times is a matter of plain duty. We of our Party pledge that this obligation will never be neglected.”

Now, you party wants to neglect needy Americans.

Temporary programs end. Supposedly the economy is in much better shape than when the program was started, so The need is decreased.

This impacts people at the low end that really have no alternative, it amounts to around $1.40 per meal and no one is looking forward to living the good life at that price. Immoral is was what happened during the dust bowl era, voluntary charity didn't work out so well. No issue with millionaire farmers being subsidized by tax payers, where is the anger from congress on those type of programs.

They could have gone after companies like google that avoid taxes or millionaire hedge fund managers that avoid taxes through the carried interest, much easier to go after those that have no voice or political clout.

Then why does obama not extend it? How dare he take food from children....damn the dems....how dare them remove food from the hand of families when job seekers outnumber avialable vacancies....

Yes, there is a war....but not from the repubs....

That was a pretty good spin though....

Be kind of hard to blame this one on Bush, won't it?
